Fraser Taylor has been awarded the highest honour in the field of cartography: the International Cartographic Association’s Carl Mannerfelt Gold Medal.
“The research support which SSHRC has given me over the last decade has played a major role in causing my work to receive this important international recognition and I recognised this in my acceptance speech at the award ceremony in Dresden in late August,” said Taylor. “I am most appreciative of the ongoing support of my research.”
Taylor is a distinguished research professor in the department of geography and environmental science at Carleton University, and director of Carleton’s Geomatics and Cartographic Research Centre. Taylor is the first Canadian to receive the award.
