Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, October 31, 2013 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Centre de transfert technologique en écologie industrielle (CTTÉI), affiliated with Sorel-Tracy CEGEP, has been granted financial assistance for the purchase and installation of leading-edge equipment.
“By funding the Centre de transfert technologique en écologie industrielle, the Government of Canada is showing once again that it is committed to making innovation the key to the country&rsquos economic future,” said Minister Lebel.
The mission of the CTTÉI is to, among other things, assist Quebec enterprises in their efforts to integrate principles of industrial ecology into their production methods and thereby reduce the negative impact of their operations on the environment. Its project consists of acquiring a climate chamber to simulate the environmental conditions to which industrial materials, devices and components are likely to be exposed. This will allow the centre to be better equipped to help businesses design new and innovative, competitive and marketable products derived from the reclamation of industrial waste.
This support, granted in the form of a $26,100 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Quebec Economic Development Program.
