The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today met with Canada's leading private sector forecasters to gather their views on economic prospects for the country.
"In the midst of a fragile and uncertain global economy, our Government remains squarely focused on creating jobs and securing economic growth, including by balancing the budget in 2015," said Minister Flaherty.
Citing ongoing risks and uncertainty in the global economy, Minister Flaherty stated: "Canada is not immune to global challenges, which will continue to weigh on growth in Canada for the upcoming year."
"Today's discussion makes it clear that in uncertain times, the most important contribution the Government can make to bolster confidence and growth in Canada is to maintain a sound fiscal position and continue to implement our low-tax plan for jobs and growth."
