OTTAWA, Ontario, November 18, 2013 — The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, is pleased to announce that the Government of Canada has awarded a contract to D-TA Systems Inc. for its innovation, the Ultra-Wideband Radio Frequency (RF) Scanner and Recorder, through the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP).
“Our Government understands that helping Canadian businesses expand and succeed directly benefits Canadian workers and families by creating jobs, economic growth and long-term prosperity,
” said Minister Finley. “We are proud to encourage Canada’s entrepreneurial spirit by kick-starting Canadian businesses and helping them get their innovative products and services from the lab to the marketplace.
”
The Ultra-Wideband RF Scanner and Recorder is a system that allows users to capture, record and analyze activities in the radio frequency spectrum. The innovation is extremely flexible and can benefit users in applications such as radar, electronic warfare, signal intelligence, communication intelligence, electronic intelligence, spectrum management and wireless systems testing. The value of the contract awarded to D-TA Systems Inc. is $278,810.
The BCIP was launched in 2010 as a pilot program to connect Canadian companies with federal departments and agencies that have a need for innovative products and services. By selling to the federal government, businesses can demonstrate the value of their products and services, and potentially generate future sales to non-government customers in Canada and around the world.
To build on the early success of this pilot program, Economic Action Plan 2012 allocated additional funding for three years, starting in 2013. As of 2016, $40 million will be permanently dedicated to the program annually. The program will also now include a military procurement component. A new call for proposals will be announced in the coming weeks.
