Canadian Armed Forces leaders recognized among Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women

Three Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) leaders are being recognized among Canada’s top 100 most powerful women by the Women's Executive Network (WXN)™ this month. The awards recognize high achieving female leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors where women are selected for recognition by an independent advisory board.

The awards were presented at a Leadership Summit and Awards Gala at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto, Ontario, on Wednesday, December 4, 2013.

Captain(N) Jill Marrack, a logistics officer from Thunder Bay, Ontario, currently employed as the Deputy Commander Naval Reserve in Québec City, Quebec, received an award under the Public Sector Leaders category. Captain(N) Marrack was nominated in recognition of her leadership, vision and strategic guidance of the Naval Reserve Formation, and as an example for all women who aspire to executive leadership roles.
Lieutenant-Colonel Krista Brodie, a logistics officer from Winnipeg, Manitoba, currently employed as the Chief of Staff of the Canadian Materiel Support Group in Ottawa, Ontario, also received an award under the Public Sector Leaders category. Lieutenant-Colonel Brodie was nominated in recognition of her accomplishments as Commanding Officer of 1 Service Battalion (Canadian Army), an enthusiastic member of her community, and a local champion for the performing arts.
Major Eleanor Taylor, an infantry officer from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, currently employed as a military planner in the Canadian Army, received an award under the Trailblazers and Trendsetters category. Major Taylor was nominated in recognition of her military career achievements, including her deployment to Afghanistan in 2010 where she was the first woman in the CAF to command an infantry company in combat.
In the CAF, women can enroll in any occupation, and serve in any environment. In all cases, CAF men and women are selected for training, promotions, postings and all career opportunities in exactly the same way - based on rank, qualifications and merit.
