The Honourable Kevin Sorenson, Minister of State (Finance), today took part in a pre-budget roundtable discussion via telepresence with community and business leaders from Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa.
“We are using innovative techniques, including telepresence and online consultations, to gather the views of Canadians from coast to coast to coast on how best to achieve our goal of balancing the budget in 2015, largely through efforts to make the most responsible use of public funds,” said Minister Sorenson. “Our priorities are to create jobs and opportunities for Canadians by protecting the economy and keeping taxes low.”
This consultation continues a series of events in communities across the country in the lead-up to Economic Action Plan 2014 allowing Canadians to provide their views on how to achieve the best use of taxpayers’ dollars without raising taxes or reducing transfers to people and provinces.
To ensure that all Canadians can participate in this process, Canadians are also invited to submit their views online.
