Ottawa—I am delighted to extend warm greetings on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Québec Winter Carnival, which opens today and runs through February 16, 2014. I would also like to express my admiration for an organization that works so hard to bring such enjoyment to Carnival-goers from across Canada and around the world.
Year after year, it is wonderful to see how this homegrown Quebec institution attracts enthusiastic crowds who brave the cold, inspired by a festive spirit unique to Canada. Over time, the Québec Winter Carnival has become a must-see attraction, boosting Québec’s well-earned reputation for hospitality and showcasing its beautifully decorated cityscape.
I congratulate the organizers on a job well done, in presenting shows and activities for all tastes and once again making the Québec Winter Carnival a world-class tourist destination.
