January 24, 2014 - Regina, Saskatchewan - Western Economic Diversification Canada
The aging roof on the Canada Centre at Evraz Place was replaced thanks in part to a federal investment of $89,650 through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF), announced today by Tom Lukiwski, Member of Parliament for Regina—Lumsden—Lake Centre, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification. In recent years, the Canada Centre has been underutilized due to leaks and the structure’s poor condition. By investing in the facility, our Government hopes to reverse this trend.
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund.
The Fund supports projects that improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
