Production Efficiencies will help Company’s Competitiveness

Fisheries and Oceans Minister Gail Shea today announced federal support for two projects which will allow Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) to acquire new technology to better respond to consumer demand, and improve production efficiencies.

Minister Shea and ADL company officials provided investment and project details at the Summerside, Water Street production facility.

The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is investing $325,000 in the company to assist with the purchase of specialized equipment to expand capacity and increase the production efficiencies of ADL’s cheese line.
Through ACOA, the federal government will also contribute $282,500 to support ADL with the purchase and installation of new technology used for its cheese cutting and packaging line to allow for product diversification in response to consumer demand.
In its 60 years, ADL has grown to be the largest processor of dairy products on PEI, processing a diverse range of dairy goods. The company currently employs upwards of 250 people.
