Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement after Kathy Dunderdale announced her resignation as Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador:
“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to thank Premier Dunderdale for her contributions to Newfoundland and Labrador and to Canada during her time as leader of the province for over three years.
“Our two governments have worked to create jobs and prosperity for all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, including by making progress on the Lower Churchill Projects, and supporting the offshore oil and gas and commercial fishing industries.
“I commend Ms. Dunderdale for her public service and wish her the very best in her future endeavours.
“I would also like to recognize Tom Marshall on his appointment as interim-Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador.”
