February 20, 2014 – Ottawa, Ontario - Environment Canada
Today, Minister Leona Aglukkaq announced $2.5 million towards the establishment of the Canada-Mexico Climate Change Cooperation Platform, a project funded through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mexico as part of Canada's $1.2 billion Fast Start Financing. This project was highlighted by Prime Minister Stephen Harper following the North American Leaders Summit in Toluca, Mexico on February 19, 2014.
Canada and Mexico share a strong record of collaboration on climate change, and have jointly implemented a number of climate change projects. Canada continues to engage with Mexico through the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition and the Global Methane Initiative on important climate change initiatives.
