On behalf of Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Status of Women, Bernard Trottier, Member of Parliament for Etobicoke–Lakeshore, today announced support to enhance the economic security of women in Toronto.
Mouvement ontarien des femmes immigrantes francophones (MOFIF) is receiving funding to increase economic opportunities for French–speaking immigrant women in the Halton, York, and Durham municipalities of the Greater Toronto area.The organization will work with partners within the community including women’s organizations, employers, and financial institutions to develop strategies that help Francophone immigrant women overcome barriers related to language skills, lack of work experience, and inability to access support services.
This project was selected through the Government of Canada’s recent call for proposals entitled Opening Doors: Economic Opportunities for Women.
