February 21, 2014 – Woodbridge, ON – Status of Women Canada
The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, along with the Honourable Julian Fantino, Member of Parliament for Vaughan and Minister of Veterans Affairs, today announced support to help women advance in non-traditional careers.
The Canadian Association of Women in Construction is receiving funding to advance more women into decision-making roles in construction and construction-related sectors in Ontario, Alberta, and Newfoundland and Labrador. This project will see women collaborate with industry, government, and educational institutions to build and implement an action plan for increasing the retention and progression of women in management roles within the construction sector.
This project was selected through the Government of Canada’s recent call for proposals entitled Opening Doors: Economic Opportunities for Women.
