In collaboration with members of the SSHRC Leaders network, SSHRC is pleased to support a series of regional events in Canada that will highlight insights from research in the social sciences and humanities on issues related to a future challenge area.
During the month of March 2014, the following institutions will be hosting regional dialogues on select topics featuring researchers, students as well as community leaders and representatives from the public, not-for-profit and private sector:
- Carleton University: Hypertext and Hypermedia Lab
- University of Guelph: Enabling rural revitalization and rural economic development by broadband and network technologies
- Wildrid Laurier University: Nature Watch 2.0: reconnecting Canadians to nature in a digital age
- York University: Information and communication technologies and the mobilization of Inuit cultural heritage
- University of Ottawa: La communauté partagée : l’aménagement de la diversité au sein de la francophonie au Canada; Les savoirs de la gouvernance communautaire
- Western University: Big data in the social sciences and humanities – data from the past, present and future ;
- Université du Québec à Montréal, in collaboration with McGill University, Concordia University, Université de Montréal and Institut national de la recherche scientifique : Les nouvelles technologies
- Dalhousie University: Social media by diasporic groups and global connections; Digital cultures and global connectivity ; migration and gender
- University of Regina in collaboration with First Nations University of Canada and the Gabriel Dumont Institute: First Nations, Métis and Inuit challenges and opportunities into the future.
Most events will be open to the public. Plan to participate and learn how Canada’s social sciences and humanities research community is contributing its knowledge, talent and expertise to building a better future for Canada and the world.
