The Government of Canada is providing $46,000 ($23,000 per year) through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund to support the Persephone Theatre Youth Series. Maurice Vellacott, Member of Parliament (Saskatoon–Wanuskewin), announced the funding today on behalf of Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
These funds will enable the Persephone Theatre to present its 8th and 9th professional theatre series for young people. The series, held in a professional venue, includes activities such as student workshops and post-presentation discussions. The Persephone Theatre also provides schools with curriculum-related study guides.
