The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, announced today the appointment of Mr. John McBain as President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Lands Company Limited (CLCL), effective March 3, 2014.
Mr. McBain was appointed by the Governor in Council on the basis of his professional background, expertise and experience in the management, acquisition and divestiture of one of the most complex real property portfolios in Canada. As the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Real Property Branch of Public Works and Government Services Canada, Mr. McBain managed a portfolio of 1,800 properties, an annual budget of $4 billion, and over 3,500 employees. His extensive knowledge of both commercial and government real property practices will be a tremendous asset to the Company.
Minister Finley also took the opportunity to thank Mr. Robert Howald, the Company’s Senior Vice-President, Real Estate, who acted as the interim President and Chief Executive Officer.
