For immediate release
KINGSTON, Ontario, February 7, 2014 – Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) wishes to advise motorists and pedestrians that the LaSalle Causeway will be lifted intermittently on February 11 and 12 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to cross the bridge may experience delays of up to five minutes. Efforts are being made to minimize these delays.
The bridge is being lifted to facilitate inspection and measurements of the buffers and span locks that support and secure the bridge in its lowered position. The measurements are part of the long term planning and maintenance of the structure. The schedule for these measurements may change due to inclement weather or logistical requirements. Updated notices will be issued as required.
Safety is a top priority for PWGSC and we are committed to ensuring the continued integrity of the bridges we manage. We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and thank everyone for their understanding.
Further information on project schedules related to the LaSalle Causeway can be found on the PWGSC website at http://www.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/ontario/lasalle-eng.html.
