PM celebrates the Chinese Lunar New Year in Toronto

Toronto, Ontario - 8 February 2014

Introduction

This evening, Prime Minister Stephen Harper celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year at the Confederation of Greater Toronto Chinese Business Association’s Annual Gala. He was joined by Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister for Multiculturalism, and Chungsen Leung, Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism.

Quick Facts

In 2014, the Lunar New Year officially began on January 31, marking the start of the Year of the Horse.
Lunar New Year is a time to gather with family and friends to reflect on the blessings of the past year, and to look forward to the year ahead with hope and determination.
The Confederation of Greater Toronto Chinese Business Association is comprised of four business associations: Toronto, Scarborough York Region, Richmond Hill and Markham, and Mississauga, which were jointly incorporated in 1998.
