Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement congratulating Canadian figure skaters on their silver medal win in the team competition:
“I would like to congratulate our Canadian figure skaters competing in the team event, whose outstanding performance and team work, combined with perseverance and determination, have earned our country another well-deserved silver medal. Your stellar achievement is a source of great pride and an inspiration to us all.
“I look forward to watching more great moments in sport in the days to come as Canadian athletes take on the world.”
Competing for Canada in the team figure skating event were Patrick Chan and Kevin Reynolds (singles - men); Kaetlyn Osmond (singles - women); Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir (ice dance); as well as Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, and Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch (pairs). Each of these skaters is also set to perform in their individual events, starting next week.
