Prime Minister Stephen Harper today spoke with David Cameron, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, about the situation in Ukraine.
The leaders exchanged views on the encouraging developments that have been taking shape over the past days and the risks that Ukraine continues to face during this period of transition. They agreed that the people of Ukraine must seize this opportunity to shape their own future.
The prime ministers agreed that every possible option should be explored to support Ukraine through this delicate transition, including consideration of the role that the IMF could play. They also agreed that any such support must be provided within a framework of appropriate terms and conditions, as part of an effort to provide financial support.
The two leaders concluded their conversation by committing to continue to work closely on these issues.
