Canadian Armed Forces personnel completed a computer-assisted exercise in Petawawa today which will help prepare them for potential future missions in the event of an order from the Government of Canada.
Exercise UNIFIED RESOLVE (UR 14) began on February 11th included members from 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (2 CMBG) as well as members of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Ex UR 14’s objective was to test the overall planning, command and control capabilities of two task forces in anticipation of the largest Canadian Army readiness exercise of the year, Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 2014, which is scheduled for later this spring in Wainwright, Alberta.
During the two-week exercise, participants reacted to computer-generated scenarios which simulated an army brigade response to a realistic and complex situation. It allowed soldiers to practise full spectrum operations, including deliberate attacks, mobile defence and assistance to non-governmental organizations.
