The Bank of Canada has revamped its public website to make the site easier to read and navigate on a wide variety of devices. As well, the site offers new ways of browsing and monitoring Bank research activities. Here are some of the key improvements:
The new site employs 'responsive design' practices, which format content to display optimally on any commonly–used device, from a smartphone or tablet to a desktop computer. It is not necessary to connect to a separate 'mobile' version of the site – all devices continue to use the current address.
Moving the cursor over categories along the top of a page displays an enhanced menu that provides quick access to the most often used pages in each section, and highlights related photos and videos.
Major sections have been reorganized to make it simpler and more intuitive to find information. For example, the Bank's main areas of responsibility – monetary policy, bank notes, financial system, and funds management – are found in a new category, Core Functions. As well, Research is now a separate category in the menu on the home page.
You can now browse profiles of all Bank economic staff by department and departmental team, and view a complete archive of a staff member's publications, cross–referenced by JEL code and Bank topic index.
New filter tools allow you to browse and search Bank research by various criteria – author, type of paper, JEL code or Bank topic index.
Separate RSS feeds are available for individual authors, and for JEL classifications, paper types and topic index categories.
