March 12, 2014 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:
“Canada condemns the rocket attacks on Israel launched from Gaza today. These attacks underscore the importance of Israel’s recent seizure of a cargo of Iranian rockets headed for Gaza.
“I met today with the Israeli Ambassador to convey Canada’s concerns with respect to Iran’s continued complicity in sponsoring terrorism, even while claiming to pursue a diplomatic approach on nuclear proliferation.
“Canada condemns these attacks and urges the parties to ensure that such terrorist actions do not set back ongoing peace efforts. The opponents of peace cannot be allowed to achieve their goals.”
