On March 15, 2014, Chaine Anderson, an inmate at Collins Bay Institution was found unresponsive in his cell.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the Kingston General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m. on March 17, 2014.
At the time of his death, Mr. Anderson, 27 years old, had been serving a sentence of 2 years and 4 months for Break Enter and Theft since October 18, 2012.
The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
