On February 12, 2014, Jack Froese, an inmate at Mountain Institution, was found unresponsive in his cell.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.
At the time of his death, Mr. Froese, 34 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Kidnapping, Sexual Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Uttering a Threat to Cause Death/Harm, Uttering a Forged Document, Trafficking, Failure to Attend Court, Theft Under, Failure to Appear in Court and Failure to Comply with A Probation Order since June 28,2013.
The inmate's next-of-kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
