March 19, 2014 - Ucluelet, British Columbia
Mr. James Lunney, Member of Parliament for Nanaimo-Alberni, on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today announced that a $232,000 in repairs at the Ucluelet (Otter Street) small craft harbour has been completed. The project involved reconstruction of the Ucluelet wharf and associated repairs.
This funding is part of a $7.9 million investment for British Columbia’s small craft harbours, which included 9 major harbour projects.
“It is important to keep harbours in good operating condition for the communities and fisheries that depend on them,” said MP Lunney. “Over the past five years, our Government has invested approximately $750, 000 in the two Ucluelet harbours. These most recent repairs at the Otter Street harbour in Ucluelet will ensure that the wharf is in safe condition for commercial fishermen and other harbour users into the future.”
