Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement congratulating Josh Dueck on winning a gold medal in the para-alpine men’s super combined (sitting) event at the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games:
“On behalf of all Canadians, I congratulate Josh Dueck for his impressive performance in the para-alpine men’s super combined (sitting) event, which has earned him a well-deserved gold medal and his second medal of these Paralympic Games. Once again, our Canadian athletes have shown that they are truly among the world’s best and the entire country is very proud.”
Josh Dueck was born in Kimberley, British Columbia, and currently resides in Vernon, B.C. This is his third Paralympic medal in his second Paralympic Games, having won a silver medal in men’s downhill earlier during these 2014 Games, as well as a silver medal in men's slalom at the Vancouver 2010 Games. Previously, Mr. Dueck won the gold in the Mono Skier X event at the 2011 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado, was the 2009 World Downhill Champion at the IPC World Championships in Jeongseon, South Korea, and has attained the podium multiple times at the IPC World Cup.
