Federal, provincial and municipal representatives celebrate project's success
March 13, 2014 – Winnipeg, Manitoba – Infrastructure Canada
Officials gathered today in Winnipeg to acknowledge the many awards Stage 1 of the Southwest Rapid Transit Project received since its completion in April 2012. The latest addition to the list was the 2013 Project of the Year award from the Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA). It was presented to both Winnipeg Transit and Dillon Consulting in December 2013.
The CPWA Public Works Project of the Year Award promotes excellence in the management and administration of public works projects by recognizing the alliance between the managing agency, the consultant / architect / engineer and the contractor who, working together, complete public works projects.
This project involved the construction of a high-speed transitway, new rapid transit stations as well as new pathways to encourage the use of alternate modes of transport in the community.
