Project made possible thanks to federal Gas Tax Fund

The Strathcona Regional District today celebrated the completion of the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex energy recovery project.
The new system of heat pumps and exchangers is designed to harvest waste energy from the arena's compressors and use it to heat the aquatic facilities. The energy recovery loop is anticipated to save the Regional District between $50,000 and $60,000 annually in energy costs.
The $329,750 project was made possible thanks to $299,750 provided through the federal Gas Tax Fund. The remaining funding came from Strathcona Regional District revenues.
