April 3, 2014 – Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Québec – Correctional Service Canada
On April 3, 2014, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a staff member was the victim of an assault at the Regional Reception Center, a multi-level security federal institution. The injured staff member was immediately evaluated and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment.
The assailant has been identified and the appropriate actions have been taken. The Sûreté du Québec is presently investigating the incident.
The Warden has ordered a lockdown of the entire institution. Normal activities will resume when it is considered safe to do so.
The safety and security of institutions, their staff and the public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
The Correctional Service of Canada will investigate the circumstances of this incident and continue to work with the police.
