April 11, 2014 – Prince George, British Columbia – Western Economic Diversification Canada
The efficiency and competitiveness of businesses in BC’s forestry and transportation sectors have been enhanced through an investment of $380,000 from Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) announced today by Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George—Peace River, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
This investment will expand a diesel fuel reduction program for trucks and heavy machinery coordinated by the Carbon Offset Aggregation Cooperative (COAC), aimed at improving the operating efficiency of vehicles in the BC forestry and transportation sectors while reducing carbon emissions. These improvements will translate into a competitive advantage as the industry moves toward a climate of increased environmental accountability and awareness. In addition, participants will benefit from improved operator efficiencies, lower maintenance costs, reduced idling, and diminished wear and tear.
Through this investment, the Harper Government is supporting industry in the development of more efficient and sustainable business practices, and the creation of new economic opportunities.
