It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of our dear colleague, Dr. Priscilla Renouf.
An internationally respected archaeologist and Canada Research Chair in North Atlantic Archaeology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Dr. Renouf was also the founding chair of The Rooms, Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest public cultural space.
Dr. Renouf had been a dedicated member of SSHRC’s governing council since 2008, serving on its Programs and Quality Committee since 2011. Her contribution to the Council—and to the social sciences and humanities as a whole—was invaluable, supporting SSHRC in its mission to build knowledge and understanding about people in the past and present, with a view towards creating a better future. Priscilla will be deeply missed.
