Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:
Paul Rochon, currently Deputy Minister for International Development, becomes Deputy Minister of Finance, effective April 21, 2014.
Andrea Lyon, currently Associate Deputy Minister of the Environment, becomes Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, effective April 28, 2014.
Meena Ballantyne, currently Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Social Development Policy, Privy Council Office, becomes Head of Status of Women Canada, effective May 12, 2014.
Gavin Liddy, currently Assistant Secretary, International Affairs, Security and Justice Sector, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Public Works and Government Services, effective June 2, 2014.
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to congratulate Michael Horgan, Deputy Minister of Finance, who will be retiring from the Public Service. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Mr. Horgan for his outstanding contributions over a very distinguished 35-year career, in which he demonstrated exemplary leadership, remarkable dedication and a commitment to excellence in serving Canadians.
The Prime Minister also thanked Suzanne Vinet, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, on the occasion of her upcoming retirement following a 30-year career with the Public Service. Ms. Vinet was recognized by the Prime Minister for her many accomplishments, leadership and dedicated commitment to excellence in serving Canada.
The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to Renée Jolicoeur, Associate Deputy Minister of Public Works and Government Services, who will be retiring from the Public Service after a remarkable 40-year career. The Prime Minister took the opportunity to again congratulate Ms. Jolicoeur as the recent recipient of the 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award of the Public Service of Canada.
The Prime Minister also recognized Suzanne Clément, Coordinator for the Status of Women, on the occasion of her upcoming retirement, for her achievements and service to Canadians over a 37-year career with the Public Service.
