Prime Minister Harper spoke today with Prime Minister Straujuma of Latvia.
The two leaders exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine. They strongly condemned Russia’s unprovoked violation of Ukrainian sovereignty, noting that its territorial integrity must be respected.
Prime Minister Straujuma thanked Prime Minister Harper for Canada's strong stance on these issues.
The two leaders also discussed the importance of a coordinated international response to Russia’s continuing acts of aggression.
Prime Minister Harper took the opportunity to congratulate Prime Minister Straujuma on her appointment to office in January 2014.
