Ottawa, Ontario – The following statement was released today by Lucie Tedesco, Commissioner of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) on the passing of former Finance Minister, the Honourable Jim Flaherty.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of our former Minister, that for several years, I was honoured to serve.
As the Minister responsible for FCAC for eight years, Mr. Flaherty was a staunch advocate of our mandate. He had an unwavering commitment to the financial well being of Canadians, and to the security of the Canadian financial marketplace. He made an enduring impact on the financial wellness and protection of Canadians.
I offer my personal condolences, as well as those of the staff of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, to the Flaherty family and friends.”
