The Government of Canada is providing an investment of $27,000 to support annual programming at Le Chenail, a cultural centre that serves the Francophone community of Hawkesbury and the Prescott–Russell United Counties. Le Chenail's programming showcases local talents through a series of performances, art exhibitions, and community activities that offer the region’s Francophones an opportunity to develop an appreciation for Ontario's Francophone culture and heritage.
This announcement was made today by Pierre Lemieux, Member of Parliament (Glengarry–Prescott–Russell), on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover.
“Our Government is proud to support Hawkesbury’s Francophone community. Our two official languages are an asset for all Canadians, and this is why we are committed to protecting, celebrating, and strengthening linguistic duality in Canada. Today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to supporting organizations that contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of their community.”
