May 21, 2014 - Antigonish, NS - Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
The Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED), in partnership with St. Francis Xavier University’s Gerald Schwartz School of Business, is hosting the 2014 Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (CCSBE) Conference from May 22 to 24, 2014. Over 125 participants from across the country and around the globe are gathering in Antigonish to explore this year’s theme “Simplify the Journey: Roadmaps to Small Business and Entrepreneurship.”
CEED is a leader in entrepreneurship education and development and has worked with local entrepreneurs since opening its doors in 1993. The 2014 CCSBE conference is an ideal opportunity for CEED to share and source leading research for the business community.
The conference will feature over 40 speakers from Canada, the United States of America, Europe and Africa. Keynote speakers include well-known regional educators such as Ray Ivany, President of Acadia University, and Don Bureaux, President of Nova Scotia Community College. In addition, the conference will feature social media “guru” Gary Bizzo; Pape Samb, a social entrepreneur specializing in international development; and Gijs van Wulfen, expert innovator, entrepreneur and author.
The Government of Canada, through ACOA's Business Development Program, is contributing $30,000 to support the conference. The Honourable Peter MacKay, Regional Minister for Nova Scotia, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, will be providing opening remarks at the welcome ceremony on May 22.

“At CEED, we’re focused on learning and sharing, and developed this event with an entrepreneur’s perspectives in mind. It offers them a chance to lift up from the daily realities of their businesses – to see their enterprises as a key part of our economies and our futures. What’s happening globally with entrepreneurship, what’s best practice and what’s around the corner; these are all conference topics we’re discussing.”
