Parliamentary Secretary Mark Strahl announces funding for the Chilliwack Fair

May 21, 2014 – Chilliwack, British Columbia – Department of Canadian Heritage

Thanks to an investment of $14,000 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, the Chilliwack and District Agricultural Society will present the 142^nd Chilliwack Fair from August 8 to 10, 2014. Mark Strahl, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and Member of Parliament (Chilliwack–Fraser Canyon), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Quick Facts

35,000 visitors are expected to attend the 142^nd edition of the Fair, which will feature the work of more than 100 local artists.
The Chilliwack Fair is the second oldest fair in British Columbia.
Founded in 1873, the Chilliwack and District Agricultural Society encourages and promotes agricultural development in the Fraser Valley.
The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
