On May 3, 2014, Alcid Benoit, an inmate at Dorchester Penitentiary died at the institutional hospital in Dorchester, New Brunswick.
At the time of his death, Mr. Benoit, 81 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for sexual offences since June 1, 1987.
The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
