May 28, 2014 – Ottawa – Veterans Affairs Canada
The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today announced that the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) has become the latest organization to partner with Veterans Affairs Canada and participate in its Hire a Veteran initiative. CADSI, a national business association, will encourage its members across Canada to give priority to qualified Veterans when hiring.
CADSI joins many other Canadian organizations and corporations in supporting Veterans transitioning to the civilian workforce. The members of CADSI—an organization that represents companies in Canada's defence and security industries—will now have access to a pool of potential employees who are Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces. These Veterans have military training and expertise in the area of security and defence, as well as a range of readily transferable related skills.
In October 2013, the Government of Canada announced new measures that will give qualified Veterans priority when it comes to hiring Canadians for federal public service jobs. In March 2014, the Government of Canada announced further enhancements allowing serving and recently retired members to access public service jobs.
