As members of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Canadian Field Robotics Network (NCFRN), students, researchers and professionals of the industry are coming together at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) this week to test their most recent innovations. On the last day of this event, pan-Canadian teams of researchers will give demonstrations of their latest research in robotics. Their projects focus on the development of robots able to collaborate to achieve complex tasks in different environments, including land, air, water and interaction with humans.
Media are invited to attend demonstrations of the latest innovations in field robotics on Thursday, May 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
NCFRN, which is composed of 11 university research labs, 10 industrial partners and 4 government partners, aims at pooling knowledge and acting as a catalyst Canadian industry in the development of cutting-edge technology. Aside from their potential space applications, the technologies that will be presented may one day be used in different sectors that have a direct impact on the lives of Canadians, such as iceberg monitoring, coastal monitoring or even senior care.
Note: The demonstrations will be held outside on the CSA's analogue terrain, which simulates the surfaces of the Moon and Mars. In case of rain, they will take place indoors.
