Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that Captain Simon Mailloux will act as one of the emcees for the National Day of Honour activities in the National Capital Region, along with Rick Hansen, on May 9, 2014.
Captain Mailloux served with distinction in Afghanistan until he was severely injured in an incident involving an improvised explosive device. In 2009 he redeployed to Afghanistan, becoming the first Canadian amputee to deploy in a war zone as a combatant.
