Man faces two charges for attempting to smuggle 2.9 kg
On May 24, 2014, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seized approximately 2.9 kg of suspected heroin at the Calgary International Airport. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has laid two charges in connection to the incident.
On May 24, 2014, Charles Roger Mukwaaya 26, was returning to Canada via Frankfurt and was referred for secondary examination by CBSA officers. During the examination of his suitcase, CBSA officers quickly detected it had been modified. In the false bottom they found the suspected narcotics and arrested the man for smuggling.
Mukwaaya and the evidence were turned over to the RCMP. He faces two counts under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on May 30, 2014.
