Ottawa–In celebration of National Aboriginal Day, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will attend the 4th Annual International Competition Pow Wow during the Summer Solstice Aboriginal Arts Festival, on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 11:45 a.m., at Vincent Massey Park, in Ottawa. His Excellency will deliver brief remarks at approximately 12:40 p.m.
On this occasion, Their Excellencies will have the opportunity to see talented dancers of all ages carry on the ancient traditions of their ancestors and celebrate contemporary Native culture with spectacular colour and movement. The pow wow competition attracts some of the best dancers and singers from across North America.
