Ottawa, June 16, 2014 – The Canada Council today inaugurates Âjagemô, a 3000 square-foot exhibition hall at the Canada Council’s new home at 150 Elgin Street. Âjagemô, an Algonquin word signifying “crossroads,” will feature exhibitions from Canada Council’s Art Bank collection and host other public arts events throughout the year.
“The Canada Council is delighted to unveil Âjagemô, a unique addition to Ottawa’s cultural amenities,” said Robert Sirman, Director and CEO of the Canada Council. “Situated on the ground floor of our new home at 150 Elgin, this exhibition hall invites residents and visitors alike to interact with the Canada Council in new ways. Its inauguration marks an important moment in Canada Council’s long history, as we are growing our civic footprint and opening up our outstanding collection of contemporary Canadian artwork to Canadians as never before.”
