Ottawa – The Canada Council for the Arts will launch Âjagemô , its new 3000 square foot exhibition hall at 150 Elgin, on Monday, June 16 at 11:00am. Âjagemô will host work from Canada Council’s Art Bank collection, as well as various public arts events.
We invite members of the media to visit the hall, and hear first-hand from Canada Council Director and CEO Robert Sirman, as well as Art Bank Director Victoria Henry about the hall and its inaugural exhibit entitled Land Reform(ed).
Land Reform(ed) features works from 13 Canadian artists, including Kim Adams and Carol Wainio, winners of the 2014 Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts. Both Ms. Wainio and curator Stanzie Tooth will be available to answer questions.
Âjagemô, meaning “crossroads” in Algonquin, was chosen to honour the hall’s location on Algonquin land. It also reflects the power of art to connect people.
