Canadian Army soldiers from 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry departed Edmonton, Alberta today to participate in a long-standing, multilateral, security cooperation training exercise in Eastern Europe.
Approximately 75 soldiers will join about 45 Canadian soldiers already in location to support the U.S. Army Europe-led Exercise SABER STRIKE 2014, which will focus on promoting interoperability with regional partners and improving joint operational capability in a variety of missions to prepare the participating nations and units for future operations. During the exercise, Canadian soldiers will conduct parachuting and other core infantry skills shoulder to shoulder with more than 2000 participating military personnel from nine other countries.
Participating nations currently include the three Baltic States: Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, as well as Canada, Finland, the United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark, Poland and the United States.
