June 26, 2014 — Vancouver — Costas Menegakis, Parliamentary Secretary to Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander on Thursday congratulated the winners of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards, which recognize newcomers who have made a strong contribution to their communities since arriving in Canada.
Organized by Canadian Immigrant magazine and RBC Royal Bank, the peoples’ choice awards - which have been given to deserving newcomers for the past six years - allow Canadians to nominate and then vote for those immigrants who have contributed to and achieved success in Canada.
Minister Chris Alexander spoke at an awards event in Toronto earlier this week where 16 winners were announced.
These awards demonstrate that with the proper supports newcomers can thrive in their new homes and the government will continue to work with the provinces, communities across Canada and important private sector partners to ensure these strong immigrant outcomes continue.
A list of the winners is available at Canada’s Top 25 Immigrants 2014.
