On May 30, 2014, Robert Alarie, an inmate at Collins Bay Institution was found unresponsive in his cell.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the Kingston General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:00pm.
At the time of his death, Mr. Robert Alarie, 56 years old, had been serving a sentence of 17 years, 6 months and 1 day for multiple counts of armed robbery since February 10, 1997.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
