Residents in the tri-community area of Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe today celebrated the official opening of the Tower Road Dam and Reservoir in Turtle Creek, which now ensures that residents have continued access to safe, clean drinking water.
Built along Tower Road, this new 1.5-kilometer-long by 20-meter-high earth-filled dam and 250-hectare reservoir will provide the communities with an additional 16.5 million cubic meters of water. The original dam and reservoir, designed to service approximately 100,000 people, had outgrown its design capacity as the Greater Moncton Area has seen tremendous growth in recent years. The new dam and reservoir can now serve close to double the population, meaning a significant improvement in the ability of the region to provide for both current and future demands for clean drinking water.
